The Pulverer Collection was photographed using a rapid capture system that Professor Ryo Akama of Ritsumeikan University developed for creating digital images of early books printed in Japan. During the summers of 2011 and 2012, two teams of graduate students—supervised by Dr. Ryoko Matsuba, a research fellow at Nazan University in Nagoya, Japan—worked to record and digitize each volume in the Pulverer Collection. Their efforts resulted in more than 66,000 digital images. Additional images from the collection were produced by the Freer|Sackler Department of Imaging and Photographic Services under the direction of John Tsantes.
